Whoopi Goldberg Is Designing “Christmas Sweaters with a Twist”
Whoopi Goldberg seems to be ahead of the fashion curve lately. The View co-host is known for her eccentric shoes and wearing brands like Vetements while sitting at the round table. Now she’s taking her sartorial knowledge to the holidays, teaming up with Lord & Taylor to design a collection of “Christmas sweaters with a twist,” as she told Vogue.

The line, which will hit Lord & Taylor stores and online later in the month, features designs like a zip-up sweater with two Santas kissing and a pullover with a Hanukkah-celebrating octopus. Nine sweaters will be released as part of this year’s capsule collection, but Goldberg is already making plans to expand the line next year. “There will be a Kwanzaa sweater next year, a Ramadan sweater. I just want to cover everything. The holidays, regardless of what you believe—it should be a day, a week, a month of let’s all be together,” she said. “Silly sweaters can unite us and what is better than that?”
And while you can buy the sweaters in October, that doesn’t mean Goldberg subscribes to the idea of celebrating the holidays any earlier than necessary. “I’m old school,” she admitted. “I won’t break them out until December 1. For me, you get out of the turkey’s way; you take a breather.”
